Can Canada’s B.C. boys propel them to victory?
On Monday, Canada defeated Finland 5-3 to advance to the NHL Four Nations Face Off Final against the United States in Boston. They look to avenge their loss against the United States last Saturday in a nail biting 3-1 loss.
While we would prefer for Vancouver to host the game instead of Boston (ew), that doesn’t mean Vancouver or the province as a whole are not represented. Here are the names of British Columbian members of Team Canada.
Sam Reinhart, the Florida Panther from North Vancouver, is the most prominent member of the team from BC. Reinhart is currently top 5 in NHL goals and is fresh off a Stanley Cup victory last summer with the Cats. Look for him on the robust Canadian powerplay with McDavid, Mackinnon, Makar, and Crosby.
The spare to Canadian starter Jordan Binnington is Adin Hill, who was born in Comox. Hill is currently on the Vegas Golden Knights, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2023 as their playoff starter. Let’s hope he doesn’t find himself playing Thursday night (or maybe you want him after seeing the goals Binnington has let in thus far).
Rounding out the starting lineup is Devon Toews, playing on Canada’s blueline. Toews (or Tazer as he’s known by teammates) plays for the Colorado Avalanche, pairing with Cale Makar, one the best defensemen in the NHL and who is also on the team. The two helped Colorado win the cup in 2022 and hope to help Canada win the four nations.
These are BC players projected to be dressed for the team (we wish you well Shea Theodore from Aldergrove who got injured against Sweden) and we hope they can help Canada win the tournament. Here’s to victory come Thursday!
