Suit up Canada...
Hockey Night in Canada just became can’t-miss TV. Don Cherry is making his triumphant return to Coach’s Corner just in time for this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Cherry, who was famously fired from Hockey Night in Canada in November 2019 after controversial comments about immigrants and Remembrance Day, is getting a second chance thanks to what CBC is calling a “shifting political and cultural landscape.”
“The recent Four Nations Faceoff proved that fighting is once again front and centre in hockey culture,” said a CBC spokesperson. “That, paired with Canadians' changing views on immigration, and the rise in Nationalism caused by Donald Trump's annexation comments, set the stage for Don Cherry’s return.”
The man they call Grapes seemed thrilled by the announcement.

“Those good ol’ Canadian boys beat the Yankees, then ya kicked Trudeau to the curb, so of course it’s time I’m back,” said Cherry. “I was once voted Canada’s 7th greatest person, it’s gonna take more than a couple of commies at the CBC to keep me away. THUMBS UP.”
When asked if he’s still sharp enough for the job at the spry age of 91, Cherry replied by spending 30 minutes listing off the hometowns of every Ontario-born player in the NHL.

While Ron MacLean could not be reached for comment, sources say that upon hearing the news, he wiped away a single tear and muttered, “Here we go again.”
Cherry is rumoured to be spending his entire first segment back in a full bedazzled maple leaf suit explaining why the Canucks should trade that “soft European” Elias Pettersson for “a real hockey player”—young Rangers enforcer and good ol' Ontario boy Matt Rempe.
