The hot spot for hotpot!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Big Way hot pot is the hot spot in B.C. With new locations seemingly popping up every other day, the popularity of the chain continues to explode. If you haven’t dabbled in Big Way yet, first of all, what are you waiting for? Secondly, here are some tips to help you seem like a hotpot pro!
If you’re balling on a budget, you’ll want to be strategic when choosing which items you’d like in your broth. Since the cost of each bowl is calculated by weight, stick to light veggies like spinach and then hotpot meat. Be careful when choosing seafood, the water it sits in adds serious weight! Make sure you ring out items like quail eggs and tofu, too. The broth and ice cream at the end are free, and even refills of broth are no extra charge.
To elevate your hot pot, the right sauce combination is nothing short of essential. Here are some tried and true combos that won’t let you down:
5-6 scoops of peanut sauce, 2-3 scoops of soy sauce, 1 scoop of chilli oil (depending on how much spice you like), green onions, and minced garlic
6 scoops of soy sauce, 1 splash of vinegar, 1 splash of chilli oil, 1 splash of sesame oil, minced garlic, cilantro, and green onion
4 scoops of sesame sauce, 1 scoop of sesame oil, 1 spoon of sugar, cilantro, green onion
If you find yourself becoming a regular, be sure to sign up for the Big Way membership program where you can earn discounts and merch that totally justify all that money spent on hotpot.
