Though there have been changes, CelticFest will still be good as gold
From March 7 to 17, Western Canada’s biggest celebration of Irish culture returns to Vancouver. 2025 the festival will celebrate 21 years of Irish excellence, including folk-rock music, food trucks, art, dancing, and more.
CelticFest aims to honour and enjoy Celtic heritage and traditions through various means, exposing Vancouverites to Irish culture and fun.
However, the popular event’s organizers have stated that the festival's growth has created some funding challenges. This includes the cancellation of the larger gathering stage show set downtown at šxʷƛənəq Xwtl'e7énk Square.
The free event may not be occurring, it's just our luck that CelticFest has a line up of fun heading our way. Below are some events that will truly get you into the St. Paddy’s spirit:
When: March 9 at 8:00 PM
Where: Mel Lehan Hall, Kitsilano
A trio from Ireland showcases traditional Irish music and sounds with notes of banter and wit. The band is a multi-award winner, having been jamming together since 2014, and they have three studio albums under their belts. The band will perform live at Mel Lehan Hall in Kitsilano, so get ready to rock your socks off.
When: March 14 at 7:00 PM
Where: Foy’s Irish Bar & Grill
What better way to enjoy a Friday night than with a dash of comedy? Comedian Aaron McCann has early roots in his craft, as his comedy style uses personal and everyday anecdotes. Other comedians joining McCann include Galway girl Amy Walsh, a third-time host of CelticFest who brings the funny wherever she may be.
When: March 15 at 8:15 PM
Where: Rio Theatre
This 19+ event is one to attend. Dubbed “a night of Irish Delilry”, this variety show highlights various acts including live music, games, burlesque, comedy and more. The hosts encouraged attendees to go all out in green to fully feel St. Patrick's spirit.
