The shocking altercation.
Two teenagers have been arrested following a stabbing in Yaletown early Friday morning. Vancouver police have reported that a 32-year-old man was stabbed outside a condo building near Mainland and Hamilton streets just before 1 A.M. this morning. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries including a stab wound to the arm, but is expected to survive.
The suspects, both 18, are currently in custody. Const. Tania Visintin, a spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), confirmed the attack was not random, and that it followed a “verbal altercation” between the victim and the suspects. According to Visintin “the suspects then fled towards the Yaletown SkyTrain station and the victim chased them.”
The Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain Station was temporarily closed for part of the morning as a result of the incident, but has since reopened. During the closure, additional bus service was provided to Vancouver City Centre Station.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 604-717-2541.
